Lyrics
CALL OF THE WILDERNESS
The sun was there somewhere, beyond the grey skies
He could see it from memory, there were tears in his eyes
He’d been so long in the city he’d forgot what it was like
To feel its’ warmth upon him and bathe in sunlight
So he took the Great Highway and headed up north
He left everything behind him, for what it was worth
The excitement grew within him as he saw the blue sky
And the wilderness beckoned him into the night
He left his old pickup by a small running stream
And made for the mountains by moonlight he’d not seen
Since he’d been here as a young boy, so long ago
When his father had told him “This is where you should grow.”
Listen to the rhythm of the wild wind
Blowing in your ears
Listen to the rhythm of the mountain stream
Listen to the rhythm of the eagle
Winging to his lair
Listen to the rhythm on the cold night air
He lay down that night with just a prayer and a dream
And then in the morning he bathed in the stream
The sun was high above him, he could feel it on his face
And he wondered why he’d took so long to come back to this place
They say that you always hurt the ones that you love
But the one that you tend to hurt most is yourself
You deny yourself the pleasures of the best things in life
By locking yourself in a box on a drive
Listen to the rhythm of the wild wind
Blowing in your ears
Listen to the rhythm of the mountain stream
Listen to the rhythm of the eagle
Winging to his lair
Listen to the rhythm on the cold night air
Listen to the rhythm of the wild wind
Blowing in your ears
Listen to the rhythm of the mountain stream
Listen to the rhythm of the eagle
Winging to his lair
Listen to the rhythm on the cold night air
The sun was there somewhere, beyond the grey skies
He could see it from memory, there were tears in his eyes
He’d been so long in the city he’d forgot what it was like
To feel its’ warmth upon him and bathe in sunlight
